I had someone replace my transmission only to find out that my tahoe would be screwed.i have a 04 tahoe v8. When I picked up my truck I go to start it and it started but when I turn on my head lights everything shuts down.if I turn on my a/c it reads reduced engine power.and blows hot air.then after a big argument I've learned that a v6 trans was installed.in order for me to get my truck out of there I had to remove the headlight and a/c relays but there's no reverse and in order for me to shift i have to press the button on the shifter.i have a another trans but its a 4wd trans and my truck is 2wd. Will it work? I'm guessing that everything is malfunctioning because of the v6 trans.helpppp!!!

Have the shop install the correct transmission. They should do it no charge since they messed it up the first time.

The 4L60E they used behind the V6 is the same as the V8, sure they might change the shift points but it has the same internals. if you take a core 4L60E that came from a V6 and rebuild it with all of the updates and improved internals it doesn't care if you put behind your 6.0 or 4.3 the computer tells it when to shift. I just picked up a 2wd 4L60E that I'm rebuilding for my 6.0 once the internals are replaced it will hold the power just fine. your 4x4 trans will work just fine after you change the output shaft and tail housing. Again it's the same trans with a different output shaft and tail housing.

The problems you are describing sound more like a pinched harness than a trans issue. I think most of your problems are from the install, not the trans itself, make the shop figure this one out and run it for a while. In the meantime build your 4x4 trans to your liking and throw it in, the install is actually fairly simple. This way you will know what you have and know its not out of a junkyard heap that had 350000 miles on it.
