2005 Denali CD Player Replacement Cubby?

I upgraded my head unit, which doesn't speak the GMC lingo, so my old factory in-dash 6 disc CD changer was useless. I wanted to swap out the factory CD player for a cubby to store cell phones and such. I ordered Genuine GM 15958735 Instrument Panel Cluster Compartment . This part is about an inch too narrow for the hole, and doesn't seem to fit the mounts that were holding the CD player in the dash.

Does anyone have the correct part number I need? Do I have to swap out the dash plate, too?

I just bought a universal single din pocket. I think it's made by Metra. Had to kind of fab up some small brackets but it's great.

How did you get that center console to look so purdy? Mine is doing the usual chipping thing in spots.....

Stripped it, masked it, and repainted it. I was in a hurry so it didn't come out as clean as I hoped. I'm going to redo it soon.

Yes. It's not a direct bolt in but close. I just made some brackets out of some metal i had. You basically want it for the single din pocket
