2005 Tahoe brake light problem

I have discovered that my brake pedal must be pushed hard to activate the brake lights. However my cruse control can be deactivated with a light tap. Is more than one brake pedal sensor is employed? If it weren't for behavior of the cruse control I would suspect a brake control switch maladjustment. Any ideas how to diagnose and fix?

look under there and see. on my corvette it was as simple as pushing it back into place..it was kinda barbed fitting if that makes sense. super easy to adjust. that one it was the one for the cruise that was goofy..brake lights worked fine. also on the C5, the auto trans wouldnt go into lockup mode with the switch out of adjustment. all that to say, i bet it has two, just look and they should be easy to find and manipulate.

Break Light Problem

Thank you for your healpfull suggestion. It motivated me to get off my duff to look even in the foul weather. I found one switch with over a half dozen wires. The switch plug mounted on the brake lever assembply moves when the pedal is pushed. The movement has so fatigued the copper that the wires were held together only by their insulation. Pushing ******* the brake apparently pressed the ends of one or more wires together illuminating the brake lights. several wires parted wirh a gentle touch! GREAT design!!

Sounds like a brake position sensor. Definitely look at the peddle.
