2005 Z71 Tahoe 123k Tranny/Electronic Problem?

I have a 2005 Z71 Tahoe with 123k miles on it. Bought it from Carmax 6 months ago and has always ran great. Car was in execellect condition when I bought it.

Driving home tonight I tried to get on the highway and when I get to about 35 mph the transmission is having problems. It won't switch into next gear and the engine will rev all the way to redline if I get my foot on the gas. Not sure if it is electrical or a bad tranny. The fluid is red and does not smell.

Anyone had this problem before or recommend anything?

does it shift when you let off the gas?? mine was doing that still is until tomorrow.. my 2/4 band is shot so i basically have no 2nd gear.. one of your bands might be going out.

Sounds exactly like what mine just did. Plan on replacing it or upgrading like I'm doing to a 4l80e
