2006 Tahoe z71 with 16 inch rim

I have a question about mounting 16 inch rims on my 06 z71. I hear they wouldn't fit on the front because the calipers are too big. I had replaced the two front calipers when my brake lines rusted out because I couldn't get the bleeder screws off them. I have a set of 16 inch rims that fit now but im not sure if its safe..What do you think can I throw some at3's on that?

The 16s should fit unless you've upgraded to the gmt900 (07-14) calipers. While it's true that the Z71s got 17s, the spare is still a 16.

I was planning on throwing some a/t's on it. You think they'll rub? my truck is at the factory height and I never owned a set of a/t's before so I wouldn't know.

I would stick a rim on there just to check clearance of the caliper first. And keep in mind that if you ever want to upgrade the front to gmt900 brakes, you'll need at least 17s. I run 18s on mine.

In terms of the tires, I just put General Grabber ATX 275/70R18, (33.2") on my 06 Z71 and they fit the stock suspension with no rubbing. They were pretty close at full lock in the front, so I cranked the keys to lift it about 1"

That looks nice. Those pictures I posted above is the 16" rim I wanted to mount just without a tire. The clearance from the caliper to the rim is what made me wonder if it was safe to ride with

Should be fine, but would take 5 minutes to check for sure before you buy tires.

16s were stock on all the LS trucks like mine. They'll clear. Looks like you already had it bolted on. If it didn't rub the caliper, you're good!

If you aren't planning on raising the front end, I'd recommend sticking to a little smaller tire. A 33.2" tall 275 width tire will fit, but it's close.
