I have an appointment to look at this Z71 at noon today. One owner here in Eugene. Same color and layout as my 2005. No accidents and no dents and no scratches.

I had been looking for a GMT800 Silverado or Sierra K2500HD but there is crap out there.

I will be looking at the exhaust manifold bolts and will put on ramps to check for leaks and check for codes history and any paperwork the owner has.

I will report back my findings. One thing for sure is that I will not buy at $15k.

thats only worth 6-7k tops in my book.
So, 18 years old, only 70k miles on it, no accidents, no dents or scratches, interior in fantastic shape and being from Oregon where there is no rust and your value for this 2006 Z71 Tahoe is only $6k to $7k, tops? The asking price is out of bounds, BUT, I would never pay that and I will check over thoroughly, but I am likely to start at a figure of $9k+ and go up to $11k or slightly more if it looks even better when I check it out. He will likely accept $12k but I will walk away before that happens.

With new vehicles backing up on lots all over the USA, the used vehicle market is ridiculous, AGAIN!

Not a problem. Typical maintenance item just like the exhaust manifold bolts.

Old guy, low mileage SUV. I'd worry about lots of short trips. Any indication of maintenance records, or did I miss that?

I've come to learn that with even low miles an older vehicle will still have many things fail or break due to age. Plastics get brittle and break. First time you have to remove a door panel half the plastic hooks will break off. Knobs crack on dash controls, latch components on glove boxes, etc.

Just things to consider

If the idle-ometer is not available, a very old-school substitute is to examine the right side of the brake pedal.
I asked about repairs/maintenance records and the son said he last changed oil at Walmart. He said his dad did not keep/have records but would check, just in case. I will be looking at the manifold bolts. The owner is a 76 year old Chinese guy that always garaged, short trips when lived in Grants Pass, Or. and was gone 6 months out of the year to China. Is a one owner. The father has moved to Eugene so his son can take care of him. The DIC should be just like mine and I will be checking that and the brake pedal. I already told the son of my experience, the ramps and inspections I am going to do and he is ok with that. I have a feeling that the fluids, except for oil, have never been touched. I doubt that plugs wires have not been done but that is ok with me. Likely has OE belts and hoses. Will be checking the connections at the tees at firewall and connections at rear heater/a/c area.

He lists it as excellent shape. We shall see. I may take this one for me and switch my Hellwig bars over and give my 2005 to my girl and sell her 73k miles 2002 TrailBlazer. It is in perfect shape too.
