I have a few questions about my new/used truck. So … I just bought a used 2007 Yukon Denali AWD. It has an aftermarket radio – Pioneer AVIC-X940BT – Navigation Radio. The radio works. The prior owner had it installed at a shop. I’m hoping they did the job properly. I have not looked at how they did the install. The chimes work and so does the retained accessory power and the steering wheel controls. It seems to me whoever did the job knew something. I’m just trying to determine if it’s working the way it should.

I noticed that there are no rear speakers playing. If I used the fader control, nothing comes out of the rear speakers at all. So the question is, does this have something to do with rear seat entertainment. To be more specific, are the rear speakers permanently tied to the rear seat video. If so, that would mean the radio is probably wired OK. Or should the radio be able to drive the rear speakers …. or is there some sort of switch that ties the rear speakers to the rear video when it is used?

Any help would be appreciated.

When you say 'rear' speakers, are you referring to the speakers at the rear of the truck, near the tail lift gate, or are you referring to the speakers located in the doors at the second row seats?

In my aftermarket installation, I eliminated the speakers at the rear of the truck, near the tail lift gate all together, as they aren't really needed, IMO, if you have good speakers and adequate power everywhere else. My head unit controls the front door and post speakers, as well as the speakers located in the doors at the second row seats.

if it has the bose system then you loose rear fade unless you use the maestro rr, that is the only adapter I know of that retains rear fade and dsp. If the rear doors still play while the fade is set to the middle then that is what has happened, reason being the bose fade is digital.

Oops - wrong section. Thanks so much fore the replies. I was a bit confused but that explanation makes perfect sense. It has the Bose system. I just checked and the rear speakers (the ones in the rear doors) are indeed playing with the fader set to the middle. So it's a digital fade and you can't use the radio analog fader to control that. I'll just leave the fader set to the middle then. I don't know what interface they used but it sounds like it can't be a Maestro rr (I would guess an Axxess/Metra, that's what I typically used). That's fine though. I'm not going to touch the thing, it works just fine.
