2007 BCM (OE / My Tahoe's P/N: 15943678) Inquiries

Hello everyone! Sorry if I'm posting this in the incorrect forum / it's already been covered. I tried searching but could not find anything. As it happens, I am under the gun to get it fixed as I have emissions and registration due in a couple weeks.

That said, I have the above part number and need to know a couple things prior to buying one.

1) Do all the interchange part numbers WORK on an 07 Tahoe? I've found almost 20 suitable substitutes listed on sites like rockauto, etc.

2) Do the color-coded boxes under the p/n label (blacked out or uncovered to show color) mean anything in regards to them working on a specific vehicle? Mine has only the blue square uncovered.

3) Along with the color-coded squares, do all the pins for each of the 7 connections have to be 100% the same? As in, I have some missing altogether (all do it seems) leaving blank spots. I've looked at several new and used just to research and they all seem to have a different "pattern" and I even saved a page where someone said they "took care of the pins." It read as though you could pull them and put them in the correct order without much fuss. But, they're soldered in and I don't even want that headache to save a few bucks...

I really appreciate the help, I've had this thing in the shop WAY too long. The manager at the shop I have it at has been fired. And not even because of me. I said nada and had no idea he'd been shit-canned!

Mack, Do you know why you need a new BCM? Is this a new or used one? I'll stop there until those are answered.

It's been gone through top to bottom, side to side. It doesn't communicate any longer.

I trust the actual mechanic, the manager was the issue to a point he was telling each of us something different. It's a weird, pointless story...

I don't have any clue which route I'll go until I have the pin/color/part number info sorted. THEN, if all those boxes check and it's used? As long as it has a warranty, I'm willing to chance it.

**EDIT: The one in question is my original component. I'm around 180-190k on the odo. And being the first year I've been dealing with electrical gremlins since day one. Just a new one but not uncommon from what I COULD scrounge up via the ol' google anyway.

The current PN# is 25835966 and they have to be programmed to your vehicle, both the VIN and all of your options through ACDelco's TDS system. It is not plug and play. The colors on the side of the BCM are to tell the installer which plugs go where, the pins don't matter as that is based on equipment level.

Yes, that is the actual GM part number on my part. It's nowhere to be found via GM resources... Others with 07s have run across it too I've found. I've got that number amongst the many. So, I have to say I'm a bit confused on the color-coding and pin placement issue as you say the pins have implications oas it pertains to equipment level. It makes me think it DOES matter where they are as unless they match, I've got no way to know it will retain all the options I have and whatnot. If that makes sense. I really appreciate it, I'm just trying to avoid stealership prices AND get the exact part I need. Some of the past few parts I've ordered I've overlooked one nitnoid thing or another that ended up making it useless for me.

Then also, if that one came out of a Cadillac or an LT and yours is an LTZ, it's still not going to work. The plugs and wiring does not matter as far as I know. It might work if ALL the options on the donor truck are the same as yours and you still have to flash the VIN. Does that make sense?

Yes, I believe I'm following: New means no hassle. Used is an obvious gamble with the hope it can be scanned to my VIN AND function. I think I'll make sure to ask whichever seller to ensure it's never been used on another vehicle, etc. The mechanic has a Tech II... I keep putting it off. As the thing ages, I really need to rethink that.

My pain meds are inhaled... So they affect my memory. I say that only to say as a courtesy, I have every intention of providing any updates whether this resolves things or it turns into something else. No sense in wasting the process if someone else happens upon it later!
