I have a 2007 GMC Denali that I have pulled my 26' travel trailer with for years. I have pulled it on many long road trips with zero issues. This last weekend I was about 120 miles from home when I pulled in for fuel it was idling rough until I put it in park. I turned it off and when I went to restart it, it would not start. It would crank but would not turn over. After about 3 hours it eventually started and ran for another 1.5 hours and died when I took an exit to rest for a few minutes. Again it would not start for about another 2.5 hours. I then started it and drove it home with minimal problems. I noticed that the oil pressure appeared to be a little low and the temp when driving would stay around 210 but as I would attempt to start it the temp would jump to 250. I have considered fuel filter or fuel pump. The dealership has tried to diagnos the problem with no success. The Denali has about 85,000 miles. Has anyone out there had similar problems or do you have any ideas what would cause this. I don't mind doing some work on this, but I hate replacing parts as part of the diagnosis. Especially when the problem is intermittent and the only real way to test it would be to throw a load on it and drive again. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

A year ago, I had somewhat the same problem. My truck idled rough, and would stall when coming to a stop. If it did stall, it didn't want to start again for 20-30 minutes. After several visits to the dealership, and $1000 later, the issue was solved with a new crankshaft position sensor, new plugs, wires, fuel filter, and a cleaned throttle body.

Are you getting a check engine light? Service stabilitrak/traction control?

No check engine light or anything. It hasn't thrown any codes either. I am going to do a full tune up and fuel filter. The dealership couldn't find anything wrong and suggested a new fuel pump for $1000 but I'm not willing to make that investment on the off chance that might be it. I did notice a couple of times that the oil pressure seemed low. Do you remember the cost of the crank shaft sensor? Seems like that would be pretty easy to replace also. I have a cousin that's a mechanic and he recommended the crank shaft position sensor as well. Thanks.
