I have a 2007 Tahoe with 5.3 Flex-Fuel and as we all know, lifter collapse.
While a new motor would be the best, but is around $6500 at dealer. The next option would be a new Crate motor. Third option would be rebuilt with new lifters.

I was hoping to hear from others who may have had this problem, see which option they choose and see how it worked out. If circumstances were different I would hands down go new from dealer. But I was hurt on an on the job injury, got cut off by workmans comp (case still open) but was able to retire in order to have a paycheck coming in but I'm playing catchup from having no income, so funds are tight. I'm trying to figure my options and looking for potential avenues. Thanks in advance!

My last choice would be new from dealer. Unless I knew of a trusted motor builder, I'd get the best/lowest-mileage/unmolested stock motor I could afford and have the AFM delete done on it.

Local dealer said they have just replaced the lifters in a few. Sometimes they just collapse and do not hurt anything else.
