While on a trip, my cruise control began only working intermittently. I replaced the break light switch under the dash and this did not fix the problem. Shortly after that I was told that my brake lights were on while I was driving and then I started getting a message to Service Stabilitrack and Traction control system. I replaced the brake light switch a couple times and the issues still remained. I saw a couple videos that said to screw the post inwards for the brake booster, but that is bull because the post is not threaded. Here is the solution.
When you push on the break pedal, the rod from the break booster activates the break light switch. The problem is, the tolerances between the break booster rod and the new switch are not the same as the old one. The brake booster rod is constantly activating the break lights, which disables the cruise control and eventual causes an error in the Stabilitrack and Traction control system. So, what you need to do is remove the brake light switch and file down the end of the brake booster rod that makes contact with the little white button on the brake light switch. I took off maybe 1mm and that is all it took. Now, my brake lights work correctly, my cruise control works correctly and no more Service Stabilitrack / Service Traction control messages. It's been about 2 days and no problems so I think this did the trick.
