I just bought a 2007 Yukon with 36K miles and it seems the outside door handle is very loose. Is this a common problem? How hard are they to replace..and finally, do they come painted? Any cost estimates for the part?

Not really a common problem, I usually hear more about the chrome handles breaking apart. These don't come painted but you may be able to just take the door panel off and tighten the bolts yourself. I'm 17 and I can remove the door panel off my 2008 Tahoe just fine, so if you're handy enough it might be a simple process for you as well.

Follow this guide if you want to try it yourself.

Yeah. Easy enough to replace. The chrome handles continue to break, (both rears, and the drivers side so far)... and my dealer keeps sending me new ones! The new ones do have different plastic "webbing" in them, which holds the studs that go through the door. It appears they beefed up the part that was breaking. So far, no problems with any of the replaced door handles...
