Alright, so I have been searching a little here and there, and no luck. I am looking for a paint to match grill surround for my 2009 Yukon. I have found a couple of pictures of them painted black... so my question, is there a source for PTM grill surrounds, or are people having good luck having the chrome painted and not chipping? ...and not interested in plasti-dipping

Thanks in Advance!

And a pic for attention....

Depends on what kind of paint you are talking about. If you want to rattle can it then as long as you prep is good and use primer and paint it will hold just fine. As far as getting a body shop to do it, unless you know the person or can get them to paint the chrome and do it right (prep thing again) then it would work just fine as well. Obviously getting a shop to spray it would look the best but will also cost you a good $100+ just for that one part. If you could find a painted grille from a factory unit then that would be your best bet with the shops spraying it. I would say that some if not most shops would not want to paint chrome bc they don't want to do the extra work, they want the painted grilles so they can sand a bit then just throw down some primer and paint or even just a single stage paint. Chrome takes a bit more to get ready to paint. Especially if they think they have to strip the chrome off before painting.

Yeah, wasn't planning on rattle can. I know the chrome takes quite a bit of prep work, but like you said, finding some one to do the proper prep is another thing. I have been lucky enough to find a really good painter, and I do have to have the rear bumper and one handle repainted (previous owner), so that's why I am trying to get all my ducks in a row before getting everything sprayed.
