If the driver side valve cover hasn't been changed to the new improved one? oil will be sucked out of it and into the intake manifold and burned in the combustion chambers, thus sticking the piston rings causing oil consumption.
If you have an 07-08? its GM valve cover pt# 12570427.
An 09-11? its GM pt# 12642655.
4+ yrs and 53k miles ago I changed the vc and did pistons/combustion chambers soak with Gunk brand "Motor Medic", and cured my oil consumption problem. Engine has 185k miles today.

Is there such a valve cover for the 2005's. I have seen the valve covers mentioned here before and maybe even for my year rig but I don't really notice usage between oil changes on mine but it is worth a look. Thanks.

Does it have excessive piston slap? I had a 2009 6.2L that had piston slap that would never go away. Tried the carbon removal process with GM top engine cleaner. Ran it hard to see if it would blow out any carbon buildup. Shortly after that it would drink 1 quart over 500 miles. No smoke ever noticed while driving either.

I'm not sure if the bore got scored from the cleaning process or cracked a piston. Either way I dumped it for my 2017 while on vacation. You either have a PCV issues like stated or a piston/ring/bore problem.
