Goodmorning everyone , I have a 2008 gmc yukon xl slt. I’ve been getting a clicking/ kinda like skipping in my front end lately in reverse worse than foward. I thought it was axels ( kinda what it sounds like) replaced them now it still does it. I can’t explain how the sound is but it’s like creaking/ clicking kinda way. Thought it would be my diff but not extirely sure.

Any kind of help would be very grateful.

Welcome to the forum from Iowa.

I 2nd the suggestion of checking your front hubs.

How many miles? Do you have any record of them being replaced?

Need to check your front drive shaft u-joints.... And check your front hubs with the tires in the air. One hand on the top of the tire and one hand on the bottom trade it push the top in and out. Any movement and the hub is toasted.

No did not look at the hubs, just the axels were first thing to do for me
ya, unless the boots were torn and slinging grease then they were probably fine, I have driven some of these gm axles over 300k+ and no issue. you don't really read about them going bad either on these suv's unless the boot tore and all the grease came out.
Hubs should be checked periodically and anytime there is a grinding, whining, clicking or humming noise or if a ABS error pops up for no apparent reason.
