After wrecking my car right before Christmas, I picked this up the next day. I didn't do any research before hand and now am slightly worried a made a bad decision. It just seemed like a good vehicle while looking at it.

No I didn't get it at a auction, I bought it from the Ford dealership (I know right). I suppose the dealership could have gotten it from an auction. My concerns would be that I bought a 08 which seems like has the most problems from what I've been reading here. Some of those posts where the vehicle just quits running would be another concern.

I brought an 08 hybrid a year ago and love it. The only issue I've had was the burning oil problem but it's more of an issue with the motor on all these vehicles, not just the hybrid. It caused a misfire on #2 I think and I just put in a new plug and installed an new valve cover that has a redesigned pcv valve which easily fixed the issue. Regular maintenance and you should be good. I've changed to full synthetic also and not sure if that was a good or bad idea. Depending on how I drive I ave 18-22. You can also install a catch can which can eliminate oil getting in the wrong places.

Only other issues are peeling door handles that all these have vehicles have. Also I added factory bluetooth from a '10 Buick enclave (lost onstar but never used it). Love my hyhoe and it's unique since there are t a lot out there. Oh and I added projector retrofit lo-beam headlights. Best mod yet along with factory bluetooth.

Feel free to list any concerns or questions and I'd be happy to help out where I can.

P.S. - you can easily remove those hybrid stickers :) just keep the emblem by the rear doors so any maintenance or emergency help knows its a hybrid.

Are you currently experiencing issues with it? If not I wouldn't worry too much on issues that "could" happen or "might" happen

Thanks, for the thoughts, so far after a month of ownership, everything is looking good. My first fill up I tried using 85 octane fuel and was repeatedly getting a oxygen sensor fault. I went with mid grade 87 on the next fill up and haven't had any more issues with the light. I have been looking into the vcim upgrade for the system that will add the Bluetooth. I too can't see wanting the onstar. I am also interested in upgrading headlights...I mean after all I hit a freaking cow walking down the middle of the road at night, so more light = better.

You hit a cow while walking? I can only imagine what damage it would do if you were driving :)

I'm a aircraft mechanic, so it's my nature to overthink what might happen, no place to pull over at 40,000 feet.
