2008 Tahoe LT - Fuel Gauge Anomaly

Today I started driving with fuel gauge reading approx 20% under half a tank. Made a stop for one errand and then resumed driving. Glanced at fuel gauge and noticed that it was back up to 1/2 tank.

What is the most likely cause of such a dynamic? Bad sending unit?

More than likely it will be a stepper motor. But with the possibility of being sender. Have to watch the data on the scanner. Or do the gauge cluster test from a scanner.

Maybe. However depending on how you parked, inclined can affect the fuel gauge level.
