2008 Yukon Denali XL - ABS Light

Hello,

I have a 2008 Yukon Denali XL that has a few issues. When driving the ABS will activate at low speeds (5mph or less). After a while, the service traction, service stabilitrak light will pop on and ABS lights come on at the same time. Once the variety of lights come on, the ABS stops activating at low speeds.

Has anyone had this issue before? From researching online, i'm thinking it's a broken wheel sensor.

Have you changed the rear shocks recently? Sometimes the connector for the speed sensor near the upper shock mount bolt comes loose.

Thank you for the reply. I'll look at it to see if it's disconnected. Would a faulty wheel sensor cause the ABS to activate at low speeds? I know there was a big recall for the older models and the cause was that the wheel sensor would build up debris and it would have a weak connection. I am just curious if anyone from this year range had a similar issue caused by a wheel sensor, particularly the ABS engaging at low speeds.

The wires are all plugged in

Try cleaning the maf. If that doesn't fix the issue then it may be a speed sensor. You can also have autozone check the codes in your car which will pinpoint the correct faulty sensor.

Thank you again. The problem will stop (except for ABS engaging) if I restart the car but once I reach 40-45mph the same lights come on. Then the ABS stops engaging at low speed again with the lights on.

I used an OBDII scanner that I have and no codes were present. Does Autozone have a reader for the ABS system?

Your OBDII scanner should suffice.

I bought an ABS/OBD scanner. Pointed to front right sensor. Bought the sensor and replaced it, no dice. Noticed the hub was loose, like really loose. Replaced the hub and it came with a new sensor inside. No lights and no abs kicking in now. Hopefully it fixes the problem for good.

The wheel hub was in horrid condition. I don't think the PO ever replaced it. They did replaced the driver side though.
