I have a 2009 Yukon SLT. I live in deer country and car vs. deer collisions are an everyday occurence.

I would like to put some powerful driving lights on, angled toward the side of the road a bit. Really hate to put on a bull bar and mess up the looks of the Yukon, which I like to look clean.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to do this?

Much thanks.

When you say driving lights, do you mean something that you can use with your high beams?

Yes. I want to light up the road sides 200 - 300 yards ahead. As bright as possible.

Thanks.

Those are awesome, but overkill for me. Something along the lines of KC Highlighters might be about right. The biggest issue is how to mount them, so I'm very intrigued about using the tow hook gaps to install them. Are brackets available or would I have to fabricate them?

Thanks.

Well I just tried to mount Hella HID lights in there and couldn't get them to line up exactly right with their existing bracket ... so I'm pretty sure one would have to be fabricated. The good news is the that you have two huge frame beams where the tow hooks attach to so it wouldn't be very complicated.

I'm actually selling those: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/pts/3040906722.html

The output is great but more along the lines of a powerful fog light.

Those should be a good deal for someone looking for fog type lamps. Where I live, we seldom have fog. It's too bad there aren't some driving lights that would fit in the fog light openings. That would look perfect, but the holes are really too small. Tomorrow, I'll go out and scout out the dimensions of the tow hook area.

I really would like a fairly focused beam, far down the road and on both sides beyond where the high beams cover. That's where the deer are when they start to run across the road. The high beams cover the roadway fine, but not the sides.

I understand.

You might want to register over on hid planet and ask away in the 'noobie' forum. There's a bunch of knowledgable people in halogen, led, and hid auxiliary lighting ... they might know of fixtures best suited for your application and size restrictions.

Good idea. I will check that out. If I find anything, I'll report it here so as to provide the info for anyone else who may be interested.
