I'm looking to put a 2" Daystar leveling kit on my 2009 Z71 Tahoe. It is 4X4 and I want to go with the BFG AT's. My first thought was to go with the 285/65/18, but I have read that these rub with the 2" kit. My second thought is to go with 275/75/18, tires are a but taller than the 285's but not as wide. Does anyone know if the these will rub as well? Guys at Discount Tire say they will not, but they also say that the 285's won't either, and I've read that they will. Any info would be really helpful. Thanks.

With a leveling kit, you really need something close to 33" diameter to look decent. However, you also need something a decent amount wider than stock to look decent, as well. Or else you'll get the "pizza cutter" look... No bueno.

I have a CCM 2.5"/1" leveling kit and my stock Duelers on the Z71 18s look too small.

Theoretically, here are some dimensions to ponder:

Stock size (265/65-18)
Height: 31.6"
Tread Width: 10.4"

285/65-18
Height: 32.6"
Tread Width: 11.2"

275/75-18
Height: 34.2"
Tread Width: 10.8"

I really doubt the 275/75-18s will fit. 34.2" diameter is pretty excessive. Plus, your gas mileage and acceleration will be terrible if you keep the stock gears....especially if you have the 3.42s. 3.73s are marginal...at best.

I would recommend that you stick with the 285/65-18s. If you get a bit of rubbing it's rather simple to finesse a few spots to make some more room without butchering up your wheel liners...

Sorry, I meant to say 275/70/18, not 275/75/18. I knew the 275/75/18's would be too big.

Also, another option that I have is to go with 275/65/18. What are your thoughts on both of these sizes? I really want to avoid trimming and am sticking with the daystar kit because I'm getting a great deal on it.

Thanks.
