Was trying to replace some painted body side moulding and the business I ordered it from sold me 2007-2011 item, but I think there is a problem.

When the mouldings arrived they were too thin and didnt look like the moudlings from a 2011 Tahoe.

I just drove around to all the new car lots and looked at 2011 LT Tahoes and Suburbans and they have the new wider (taller, about 3.7 inch tall) mouldings - and upon closer look it appears to be the same mouldings from a current and late model Silverados.

I couldnt find a 2010 on any used car lot but the 2007-2009 all have the thinner mouldings that is not as tall (about 2.5 inch tall).

Before I complain to the place I bought the mouldings from, I would like to be sure I know what I am talking about.

Can someone with a 2010 and someone with a 2011 go measure the approximate height of your color body side mouldings? (LTZ owners with chrome - yours are different.)

Thanks in advance,

Mine are just under 4". I have the Z71 pkg, but I don't think that changes the body side moulding size.

Yes the 07-08/09 moldings are about 2.5" tall. The moldings on my '11 are close to 4" and they have a slight wave/indention to them.

Not sure if this shows enuff, but these are on my 2011 lt

Thanks for the photos - anyone with a 2010 that can chime in here?

I think the wider moldings started in 09 not 10 ... mine was an 09 and the ones I just took off are the same as the new ones.

Michael, the best way to get the part you want is the following ... go to a dealership and go to their new car/truck lot, find a truck with the moldings (or any other part) you want, write down the VIN no. Then take that to parts dept. and let them input it in their computer. That's how these guys know what to order, most of them have no idea as to what part fits one year or the other. So the VIN on their computer spits out the part you want. When the part is color sensitive make sure you get the vin from a like colored vehicle. But in this case the side moldings come primered/not painted so just give them the VIN from any vehicle that has the moldings you want. Then when they give you the part number you can either order it there or take it with you to order on the net. :waytogo:

I tried the VIN trick already - no matter what VIN from 2011 they use from an LT or an LTZ the only part they can come up with has the chrome - go figure. Maybe, the dealer doesnt know how to look it up or maybe no one buys the unpainted ones. I told them I thought by law GM had to make parts for everything and they said not any more.

I'll PM you the VIN of my Hybrid after coffee and a couple of errands.
It has the stock moldings you're looking for.
