i remember reading a few posts back in o8-09 about the new body style of the 2012 and beyond tahoe being a "UNI-body" truck.
so i was searchin to find a few pics of concept tahoes finding nothing but articles on the current generation maybe being the last. are these sources true? i was looking to see what new hoe id be able to trade into.

this is from globalmotors.net:

With high gas prices and the whole economy in recession big SUV sales are lower than ever before. This is bad news for GM, whose financial situation gets worse day by day.

In addition to problems selling its Hummer brand, GM has now canceled its CXX program – a program designed to develop the next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban SUVs along with siblings GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade.

According to The New York Times, vice chairman Bob Lutz has confirmed that the next-generation of these products have been canceled. He said: “It would have been very difficult in today’s environment to spend a couple of billion dollars to do a replacement.”

The next-generation Tahoe/Suburban along with the Yukon and Escalade were set to arrive in 2011 as 2012 models. GM had originally planned to spend a total of $2 billion on completely redesigning the SUVs and retooling the plants that build them.

No information yet on how long will the current models continue in production. Most likely 2-3 more years. GM might still continue the Escalade program with the Lambda platfrom. Either way these big SUVs in their current form are history soon and will be replaced with something more fuel efficient. Don’t be surprised if we here similar news soon either from Ford of Chrysler.

Sounds funny though. Once GM killed the electric car and now they are killing the big SUV!

That article is over 2 years old, and SUV sales have picked up again. As much as the tree hugging politicians want to force us into "greener" vehicles and increase CAFE standards, Americans want the room, power, and luxury of SUVs.

I work for a GMC dealership and haven't heard any word about them killing off the full size SUVs. It's all speculation. There have been a few customers who've bought Yukons because of fears it'll be discontinued (replaced by the Acadia, which is the same size, but lower and less powerful) but I don't think they'll kill it anytime soon.
They did kill the midsize SUV though (Trailblazer/Envoy) when the Acadia/Traverse came out.
Not everybody wants to own a pickup to tow their boat with.
