Good Morning everyone,

New to the forums here hope to be able to get a ton of info on here. I just picked up a 2012 Yukon Denali and was thinking of replacing the stock nav unit with a new head unit with apple car play functionality. Specifically the Alpine ilx-107 7in In Dash. Now I am pretty sure i can figure out the right harness to keep the Bose/Onstar/steering wheel controls/and whatever else. BUT i am not sure how i can keep the functionality of the rear seat entertainment since the DVD player resides in the Nav unit... Can anyone give me some thoughts on this?

Welcome to the forum and though I'm far from the most knowledgeable on here, I have some experience in this area. You need a head unit with dual zone technology which allows 2 seperate media options (or the same) to play at a time. Unfortunately this comes with the more expensive head units but does exist. You will also need the kit that connects to your current setup and EVERYTHING can and will be retained including on-star and ofcourse your RSE. I have the pioneer 4200 NEX but I believe all the NEX models have this ability. I consider Kenwood better brand in the HU area but you just want to make sure your HU has dual zone technology. There are PAC and Maestro kits that retain everything, the Maestro I think is pricier but also gives you additional abilities.

Look up your vehicle and check the available harness for one that says Keeps "RSE"

says to use the gmrsav- it just plugs into the harness for the rse and provides rca inputs/output (there should be rca plugs on the back of your center console). output from new headunit will just have RCAs
the one from PAC (GMRVD) i used is a y harness that adds the rca inputs/outputs, but i'm not sure where the ongoing side of the harness goes to if it's not needed. i think the XL/suburbans have dual rse screens but mine isn't one. it's for adding additional input to stock nav unit
