2013 Escalade ESV doesn't have K5L HD Cooling, do I need to search for the 700W fan motors...?

Hello All,

Random musing...I have seen mention on this forum about RPO K5L HD Cooling package consisting of 700W fan motors and such.
My 2013 Escalade does not have K5L listed on the RPO sticker. It does have KC4 Cooling System - Engine Oil (oil cooler in the radiator) and KNP Cooling System - Transmission, HD (external transmission fluid cooler in front of the radiator.)

Looking at replacement cooling fan motors and blades on https://parts-catalog.acdelco.cotym/acesCat.php?#, all the motors are 700W and the fans are 5, 7, and 9 blade.
I have not looked at the cooling fans in my Escalade yet.
I will say this, with the AC on, the cooling fans are quite loud.

What I am leading up to is, does my Escalade have the 700W cooling fan motors even though it doesn't have the K5L package?
if it doesn't, I am going to search for them. I live in upstate South Carolina. Summers are hot and humid.

I know this seems like a stupid question, since it doesn't have the K5L, but I had to ask. I have read implications that the Escalades got the higher power cooling fan motors.

Thanks for your time!

I just got off work, and checked both cooling fans on my Escalade.
Both fans are 5-blade, rimless.
I counted the blades on each fan a few times to make sure I was correct.

Sooo…an upgrade may be in my future.

Try to get part numbers from the fan motors. I was looking into this a couple years ago and was able to get part numbers off the sides of the motors.

I've read on here that when replacing both fans with 700w ones that the electrical system takes a big hit, so many just replace one. Also, the fan blade design has changed, from rimmed to rimless, and from a 7 blade/9 blade setup to both 7 blades or something like that, can't remember exactly.

Here's a link to a 700w motor on Amazon

In my research on this topic with both the Yukon, Yukon Denali and 6.2 Sierras, all of the 5 blade rimless designs used 500 watt motors and was the 2nd design.

Here are my notes:

On the left, S is for GMC Sierra and Y is for the GMC Yukons.

This was information gathered from ACDelco, GMPartsDirect and GMPartsGiant. It's probably why I can't see anymore! So much small writing! LOL

My memory fails me, my daughter's Sierra has 5 bladed fans on both sides, don't remember if they are rimmed or not.

Thank you very much for the information, gentlemen! It is appreciated. I will figure out which set of blades I need to run.

I am going to upgrade the fans and motors at the same time as I do the electrical system 'big 3' and install a 220A GM22949466 alternator.

I will try to get the part numbers off the fan motors installed in my Escalade.

Unless you're towing at the weight limit climbing out of Death Valley in the summer, the 700W motor, alternator and fan upgrade are overkill, IMHO. I wouldn't bother with it if I had to do it over again. And I upgraded only the driver's side on mine, but in hindsight am not even sure I got a 700W motor given James' chart. Mine has 5-bladed rimless fans, and while the motor and blade I ordered were listed as the parts I needed for 700W on the website I bought them from, James' chart says otherwise.

To be honest…I can’t argue with that perspective. I have had no cooling issues out of my Escalade. We are in the depths of summer here in Upstate SC. AC blows snow and coolant stays at 192.

I do tend to go too far for bigger/better/faster…

Thanks!

Just remember, I'm half blind and my notes have not been peer reviewed. Some of the data could be inaccurate.

Ok, it was bothering me and so I revisited this chart until my eyeballs quit seeing clearly:

This chart was made from my notes and used only ACDelco's parts catalog. I cannot pull up the Denali Yukons on ACDelco's website, don't think it matters though. I was able to pull the 6.2 Yukons for 2010 and 6.0 Yukons for 2009. I did not look up the Hybrids. All of the Escalades have the 700 watt fan motors and use either the 1st design 7 and 9 blade rimmed fans or the 2nd design 5 blade rimless. As Steve Lehto says, questions or comments put them below!
