Hello,

my 2013 Tahoe SSV came with the factory "tow package(s)". I am trading my trailer in for a "car hauler" and noticed after I hooked up my trailer, that nothing on the driver side of the trailer works (brake lights, turn signal). The passenger side seems to be just fine.

I am wondering if I have a wiring problem, or maybe a fuse that busted, or ... or ...

any hints would be great,

thanks,

Ron

Update:

I found this online, now I wonder if there are indeed different ways it can be wired, and if so what wiring the 2013 Tahoe SSV uses:

This morning I realized, it might simply be a fuse. Someone might have backed up a trailer, busted a light, shorted and a fuse 'went'

I'll check into that too.

well, picked up the new Tahoe extension (toy hauler) today, When you hook it up, after you start it ... it immediately gives you a "you have a trailer hooked up, so we're not doing backup assist" warning and also, after you clear that message, it will go to the trailer menu item for setting the gain/output etc. (i still have to figure out the settings for that)

This warning is on the DIC or the display on the cluster? I have never seen a trailer menu? Where is that found. Does your SSV have the trailer control on the Knee Bolster already or did you have to add one?

It shows on the DIC, in the instrument cluster. Yes my Tahoe has the trailer package, including the trailer brake thing on the knee bolster.

these are the trailer RPOs that I found in my vehicle:

JL1: CONTROL,INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE
VR4: TRAILER HITCH(WEIGHT DISTRIBUTING PLATFORM)

I believe there is another one, I posted it before.

Oh an this Tahoe really likes to tow... :)

Ron

PS: I am kinda am wondering what that "tow button" on the shifter exactly does.

Weird. My Tahoe has the trailer hitch and the 7 pin plug for plugging in the wiring but I do not have the trailer control on the bolster? Kinda odd to have everything else but no brake controller?

I think there are different packages, did you write down the list of RPOs that's in your glove box?

(check the list and see what you have)

Do you have the shift stick with the "trailer button" too?

The 7 blade plug is pretty standard, except for U-haul style hitches, they use the 4-pin.
