2014 9.5" 12 Bolt retrofit into earlier Models

Have any of you guys retrofitted the 9.5" 12 Bolt used in 2014 and up Tahoes / Suburbans into an earlier model? My wife's Supercharged 2003 is getting ready to receive a replacement for the stock 5.3 that is presently living under the Magnason 1900 TVS [12psi], in an upgraded LQ9, and I'm a little concerned about the 8.6" 10 Bolt [upgraded with 4.56 gears and a Detroit TruTrac].
