So, I now know and it seems pretty obvious, but I when I was ordering an AC replacement kit from rockauto i didn't know if i had rear AC or not --- it turns out i do - but my center console was a junker one with wires cut so the the only "Rear" that gets used is turning on the rear button on the front console just seems to just send the same air (hot/cold) as the driver side.

my question is, can i just replace the ac components bypassing the rear entirely?

Looks like you can get a rear AC block off kit - I went ahead and ordered that

Thanks for the forum move - since the AC stuff is in the engine i didn't think it would be interior, and i saw other ac/blend door posts in general. I'll try and get that right next time

Mods on this forum are great. Considering these trucks are up to up to 18 years old, there a lot of traffic on them. Seems as though they’re going 2-3x their expected lifespan and they’re aftermarket parts are dreamland.
