Hello Everyone,
Just completed an LT1 swap in my 2018 Tahoe RST and wanted to share my setup and experience.
Maybe it can help someone looking to replace their 6.2 L86.
I replaced the original L86 with a GM 6.2L (PN 12716435). One important thing to note, this engine does have AFM/DOD hardware (valley cover with connector), so it’s not a fully non-DOD configuration like a typical LT1. Motor comes in a 22-24 Camaro
For the install:
Reused the L86 oil pan for proper fitment
Kept factory mounts and accessories
Running the stock truck intake setup
Paired with the factory 10-speed transmission
The swap itself went smoothly overall.
On the tuning side:
AFM/DOD is fully disabled
Made some adjustments to idle and rolling airflow for drivability (but really not needed as it has the same spec cam as a L86).
Still dialing things in, but it runs strong and feels responsive
Overall, I’m happy with how it turned out. If anyone else has done a similar swap with PN 12716435 or has input on tuning these hybrid setups, I’d be interested to hear your experience.
PN - 127616435 for the engine will cost you $3,400 , with $3,500
