What size campers are you guys pulling with a 2018 Yukon slt 5.3L. I am looking at a 29 ft that weighs 5100 dry with a gvwr of 7300. Not sure how much the tongue weight is, will find out this weekend when I double check everything. Trying to see if I will have issues towing it

Do you have the tow package? If so then that trailer should be no issue but would definitely still use a LD/Sway hitch.

XL or shorty? You’ll have quite a bit more sway with the shorty, but a good WDH will help. Ours is 7000-7500 fully loaded and I pull it with a Yukon XL Denali but lots of folks are pulling campers that size with the 5.3. As others have said just verify that you have the external transmission cooler option.

A 2500 would be ideal, of course, but with a good hitch the 1500’s are capable towing beasts. I’ve made several modifications to mine (towing cam, 2-row radiator, fan forced transmission cooler relocated below the radiator, billet torque converter, 700w fan motor, etc) to better handle high temps in the south and mountain west. I have pulled over 20k miles with this setup and it’s solid, comfortable and stays cool.

Well I guess with all the mods then that for sure helps. I just go by what I see on the roads. A small truck like a Tahoe just doesn’t seem right pulling a 29’ trailer.
