Trying to find a tapping sound under or behind drivers side dash. Sounds like a plastic on plastic sound.

Has anyone come accross this issue?

Took the vehicle to the local Chevrolet dealer they could not locate the source.

I have found numerous items which seemed loose and tightened or shimmed them to no resolution.

help!

Welcome to the forum from Oregon.

If no one here as experienced the same problem then they may not respond and the fact that it is so new and still in warranty does not mean that you should give the dealer a pass just because they can't find the problem. Can they duplicate and not find or cannot duplicate? They may need to disassemble the dash to inspect and you should hold them to that.

We recommend that you put all your rig(s) info in your signature so we all don’t have to guess at year, make, model, engine size, trans, rear axle locker…….etc. While you may have posted pertinent info in your first post, you may forget to do it again and the info is needed by us anyway. Makes it way easier on all members that attempt to help, to have that info right up front. It is also recommended that you take a pic of your RPO codes, on the inside cover of the glove box, and post that image in your signature. All this info will greatly help those that will try to help with a problem.

If there is any other info, like upgrades, mods or recent mechanical/maintenance work done, that would be helpful in any post as well. Too many times a question is asked by the poster and after about 10 responses we find out that the poster has done recent work to attempt to fix the problem or work that was done that SEEMS not related to the problem.

there is no defacto point of noise it could be literally anything, I can suggest using your cell phone to record and move it around to different places and see if you can pin point it that way the mic is more sensitive than your ear. otherwise start taking things apart until you find it.

On the previous generation there was an electrical connector right underneath the very top of the dash that would tap/rattle - the fix was to open the dash and put something between the two like thin foam padding.

I know the sound, I know 3 other trucks with the same sound, mine and the others are 2019's, used to only get it in the winter, but heard it this summer too, I have looked, chevy has looked, and looked and searched, still nothing, but I'll find it

thanks for the information.

Did you have the dealer fix the rattle. The reason I ask is I just don’t feel confident in opening the dash. I am resorting a 65 corvette but I lack confidence the new vehicles!
