Hey everyone,

Just picked up a 2016 Yukon Denali. It was the only black one they had in stock and it was fully loaded. It's my 2nd Yukon and I already love it. The only thing I don't love about the car are the 22" Chrome 6 spoke wheels. I like the shape of the wheels themselves, just not a fan of chrome. I'm considering powercoating them a satin or sliver color. Maybe even black. The dealer did offer to switch them out for a set of the 7 spoke aluminum 7 spoke 22's with the chrome inserts.

I guess my question is, has anyone powder coated the chrome 6 spoke 22's? I love the shape of this wheel and would love to see it in another color

Other question is, are the inserts of the 7 spokes removable? If they are I might just swap them out and powercoat the inserts. Would save me some money that way.

Thanks in advance.

Those are the ck157 (SEZ) wheels. Don't see those very often and they are usually sought after but only have seen them in chrome. I don't believe the inserts are removable on those wheels.

You could look at these ck163 wheels which I believe you mentioned that come in a couple of OEM options. Replicas also have other color combinations out there. On certain models the inserts are removable. Plenty of pics of them on other members trucks on the TYF.

Thanks for the info!

Upon further research it looks like the inserts are removable on the ck163

For the ck163, yes certain models with that insert are removable. Some do not have the inserts and some perhaps are dummy looking screws. Be certain if you go that route. This question has popped up on this thread and other GM threads asking this very question. If they do remove, it is only 2 screws and the insert pops out. Good luck.

This is a different wheel, but if you go black, IMHO satin looks much better than matte (matte is just way too flat, looks like plastidip)

Make sure you find a good powder coat shop

These wheels are starting to grow on me. I think I'm going to keep them. You're right in that I don't think I've seen too many Denali's with these wheels, and the ck163's seem to be pretty common as well. Goin to take my time to decide what color (if any) to powdercoat them.

I agree 100% about the satin. Def the way to go on a nice truck.

Nope, but nice truck!

Does anyone know how the ck163 reps (denali 22" - 7 spoke w/inserts ) compare to the oem version in weight?

Not sure where you are located but I have a new 16 Yukon Denali with the 7spoke 22" with chrome inserts and I'd be interested in trading if you are interested. I'm near Houston and would meet part way.
