As some of you know the 2nd Gen Z71 Tahoe comes with one of the best factory roof racks you can get and I bet that even fewer of you know that you this 2nd Gen rack with bolt on to a 3rd gen without modification.

Unfortunately the 3rd Gen Z71 comes with a poop butt roof rack but this can be fixed.

I pulled this rack from a pick n pull Z71 for $37.

I prepped, painted, and installed this the other day.

Looks great. Now you need to mount the lights in the rack. I have a 04 z71 and am considering a 14 ssv but want a good rack like the z71. Digging your set up. Thanks for sharing.

Would love to do that with reverse lights on our burb. Are burbs a direct bolt on too? Do you have any more pictures of it?

The long bodies (Suburban, Yukon XL, Escalade ESV) are all interchangeable. The Tahoe rack is too short for a long body.

So as long as you got the rack from a long body GMT800 it would fit the GMT900.

I knew that the GMT900 racks fit on GMT800 rigs, and the other way around. Same wheel base trucks of course. Maybe that’s cuz I have Escalade roof racks from a 2008 long body esky on my 2006 Denali XL. Lol. Interesting look for your hoe.

It's not bad looking, seems a little bit tall and bulky. If you could somehow bring the vertical height down some it'd look gr8! I'm trying to retrofit an '08 'Burb LTZ liftgate/3rd brake light spoiler into the liftgate of my 03 Yukon XL atm. It's taking a little grinding and triming but when it's finished and fitted it's gonna look pretty dope IMO. I'm sure other won't agree w me but screw em....and THAT'S what this is all about, you dig it just like it sits so keep rockin it brother
