I have a 2001 Yukon XL with captain's chairs in the second row. I am trying to swap for a 60/40 bench seat (tan leather).

I picked up a 60/40 bench seat from a 2000 Yukon (NOT XL) and it has completely different bolt pattern to the floor than my XL has.

So, I am now wondering what exactly is compatible and what is not with my 2001 XL. If anyone can shed some light I would appreciate it.

Welcome to the forums for starters Jason. The XL and the standard Yukon bench seats are definitely not the same. I know in my parents NBS Suburban (2000) the right side can slide forward to allow people into the 3rd row seat whereas in my NBS Tahoe (2001) I have to flip the bottom cushion forward and the seat back down to allow people into the third row. That being said I don't know if the bolt pattern is different or not. Another thing to consider is in 2000 some of the Yukons/Tahoes were the OBS style and some were the NBS style. Did you confirm you received the NBS style seat? That could be your issue as well.

The 2000 Yukon I pulled the seat from was a new style. It looked identical to my '01 XL (even same exterior color). It was a roll over that the owner decided to part out so that is how I came across the seat.

The seat itself is a 60/40 split that the seat bottoms pull forward and then the back folds down. It also has a center console built into the center seat back position. It has 8 mounting holes but they are not spaced anywhere near the same as my XL.

I am now wondering if I could get a "junk" bench seat from salvage from an '01 XL and just swap the seat bases. My only concern is that the seat mounting points to the base are different as well. It would be nice if there was a compatibility chart or something to know for sure.
