So I just spent the last 20ish minutes or so searching our forums and came up with nada. I'm going to do a generalized internet search, shortly, but I figured I'd go ahead and ask here, to see if any of you have heard of this being done before or, beter, have done it...

I have an auto recycler that buys Yukons, Tahoes, etc. at auction; he claims that all the seats are interchangeable if you keep the original vehicle's mounting brackets...

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Thanks,

Will

I assume your inquiry is leading to bench seat versus bucket seats? He’s half correct. Second row seats are interchangeable, so long as they come out of the same wheel base SUV. Standard wheel base second row bench seats are only interchangeable with standard wheel base second row buckets, and long wheel base bench seats are only interchangeable with long wheel base second row buckets.

Thanks. What he is suggesting is that you can interchange between SWB and LWB, if you swap out the connecting hardware. You'd keep all the parts that make the seat a seat, but all the connections between the seat frame and the target vehicle would use the target vehicle's connecting hardware. I have decided against taking that plunge, so far, but it is interesting.

In my general internet search, I found ONE GUY that says he's done this. He swapped between SWB and LWB, added about $250 worth of OEM connective hardware (at 2008 prices!!!), and got it to work.
