hello everyone, this is my first post.

My passenger 2nd row seat will not fully go back in line with the others. Any idea why this might be? See pictures.

if its not being blocked by the seat behind it then you have something bound up or out of place, take a close look at the hinges and locking clips

it is definitely not being blocked by the 3rd row seat. It acts like this with or without the 3rd row in. I bought the Tahoe used, about a year ago, and it has always been like this. I will take better pictures of the hinges, and I have no clue what the “locking clips” are.

There should be an additional handle. I'm not sure why just this side has it... but I have denali with 2 rear bucket seats. The passenger rear like yours has back adjustment that can be set at about 3 or 4 different levels. But my driver side rear doesn't have this knob it will just go up and down in one position... Report back tmrw

the metal cables activate the locking clips, that is what holds the seat in place and releases it to move it, they are hook shaped & spring loaded and clip onto a round metal piece, you may call them something else, I don't have my nbs anymore so I don't have something to look at hands on at the moment my ex has a 2004 and will be by here later today I will look at hers but I don't remember there being any seat adjuster on mine but it could very well be that if nothing is jammed up or bent and not allowing it to move all the way back, I am pretty mechanically inclined for this type of thing but it has to be right in front of me so I can see what it is actually doing.

^this.

It sounds like you need to take a closer look at the cables and latches. I'm betting there's just something stuck that won't let it back correctly.

@Charr Berteaux IV,

If nothing else, try a little light lubricant on the hinges and pivot points. Exercise the lever(s) while you are doing that.

My 3rd row seats were tough to release/remove until I did that with mine.

You have the 2nd row bench seat. In order to access the 3rd row seats does the 2nd row seat have to be folded down flat?

EDIT: Can you pull the lever all the way (like you're trying to fold DOWN the seatback) and hold it, and push the seatback to the desired position?

I haven't seen the mechanism for the 60/40 2nd row seat; my '04 has the buckets. On mine the cable doesn't release the seat or the seatback, but releases only the headrest when the seatback is folded all the way down flat.

And only the passenger side seat has more than one seating position: default upright and one notch reclining. One lever for everything, and no knobs.

So, my Tahoe has no levers for adjusting how far it goes back. Took some additional photos in better light. I’m very mechanically inclined, but nothing really stands out as an obvious “ Oh this is the problem”. I do see a cable broke, and when in the upright position, it does not look like it seats all the way in the hinge. Have a look at new photos, I’ve marked up the two in question. Anyone know where I can buy replacement cables other than dealer? I’m headed to a pick apart today. 6E8A74CE-43DF-4B94-BBFD-6AEBEA2E82A6.jpeg203AC05E-9E4D-4177-AE4B-33FA8DC44E4F.jpeg416D6101-817D-493A-9C8A-09A7668E09CB.jpegE856B4C7-69FC-4229-906A-B21C1704F915.jpeg8492360F-EDC7-44B6-BB4C-18348B11E037.jpeg
