I now I'm probably going to catch a lot if grief for even posting this, but I'm willing to endure.

The tranny in my wife's 05 pretty much gave up the ghost last night, so I'm already shopping around for a rebuild. She wants 4wd, and though I'm certain that it would be a huge headache even if I'm replacing the transmission already, I'd like to know if anyone has ever attempted or thought about this. Obviously it would be much less painful to buy a truck that's 4wd. But she really. REALLY likes hers and doesn't want to trade up.

I'm looking for a list of suspension components, etc., as well as any advice out of curiosity.

Let the thrashing begin. Thanks.

Are 4x4s hard to find in your part of the country? Here in CO there is about 1 2wd Tahoe for every 10 4x4s and for Suburbans probably 1 in 20.

Went to 2 yards here in MD and they said the Suburbans and Tahoes in the 2000's were impossible to find. The old Suburban 1500 - easy. Grand Cherokees REAL easy to find.

OK, I think I jumped the gun quite a bit before I did my research. It looks like I only have a bad TPS. That's quite a difference from replacing the whole transmission.

It looks like it's riveted to the throttle body. How do you replace that?

You need the whole throttle body assembly. You cannot just replace the TPS.

Have you tried cleaning the throttle plate/throttle body with carb cleaner and then removing the negative battery cable for 5 minutes (this induces a TPS relearn)?

What exactly is it doing (symptoms)?

Late shift 1-2, kind if hard, and no OD. I've read several sites about common 4L60e problems and that's usually number 2 after no reverse. They all indicate that it's the TPS.

I don't know that I need the whole assembly. I've already looked up the part and they sell just the TPS. The old one is riveted to the throttle body, but I think the new one comes with small bolts and nuts. I'll find out this afternoon when I go to pick it up. If it works out I could just grind the rivets off and replace it.

I will try cleaning it up and doing the relearn as you said before anything else.

OK, well I took the throttle body off, cleaned it up, relearned the TPS, and other than noticing a little more throttle response from a stop there was no change.

Then, tonight I went ahead and bought the new TPS ($83.99 at Autozone + a pop rivet gun). Is actually very easy to replace- too easy as a matter of fact. It didnt help. I was convinced that was what it was based on what I read.

I guess I'll take it to the shop tomorrow to get looked at
