hi,
I currently have a 2011 Yukon Denali XL with 285/45R22's. I am pretty sure I can move into the 305/40's but can I put 305/45's without rubbing?

Even the 305/40s will rub an intsy bit, 45s will rub a LOT.

Thankyou.
In your opinion you wouldn't even go with the 40"s?

Lino, 40s are good to go. Slight rubbing but usually it goes away.

305/40 are actually visually the perfect size, the rub is very minor and rarely experienced. They are slightly stiffer than the 285/45s, but if you don't mind that then go for it. Having had both sizes I'll probably go with the 305/40s next time I need a new set.
