I have a 2001 YukonXL 4X4 with 4:10 Factory and 5.3 and I know the 4L60e not the toughest trans out there either.

I was thinking next time I put set of tire on it going with 33 inch tires.

What I come up with it should running 33 inch ties will be like running 3:73 gears in it.

For the ones that have 3:73 in there's is underpowered or is good for a DD.

Will it be a dog going with 33 inch tires I know this a heavy SUV and has a lot of weight to get rolling and keep rolling for the little 5.3 plus the 4L60e.

Or should I just stay with the stock size tires instead.

I have notice now driving down the road I am happy for what it is but towing a 1000 Lb's behind it I can feel the lack of having the HP and TQ.

I know I can't compare this to my old 1997 F350 with a 7.3 Power stroke 4:11 rear end for towing.

I don't tow much with it but where I live we have nasty winds and hill with long climbs.

I really don't want dump $500.00 plus for a set of gears just so I can run 33 inch tires.

I have an 04 Z71 with stock 373's. I run 33x13.50 tires with 5" of lift.
Im swapping a motor in a week or two, however If I werent gaining power from the swap (LQ9), I would be installing gears. Its a dog while trying to pass or merge. I also come from the diesel scene, and while there is no substitute for Turbo Charged 6.6, it is a very very far stretch to try and get the same performance out of a naturally aspirated 5.3. The lack of low and mid power is my biggest complaint with my setup.

The 5.3 with 33's and 373's works fine, but it leaves alot to be desired.

I run 32's with 3.73's and a 5.3 in my xl and honestly it's not bad... Once I got the tune and e fans in it seems to run much better. I have no problems getting up to speed or passing slow ass people lol. From a dead stop... Yeah it's slow lol but he'll it's like 6000lbs so I don't expect much. Once it's moving it runs good.

I have an 06 Yukon 4x4 with the 4.10's and a 5.3. I installed heavy ass cooper discoverer AT3 LT275 70 17's. I guess they are like a 32.5 inch tire. The truck ran fine with the stock tires. Once I stepped up to the coopers I could feel a large power loss. I got a Dyno tune and that woke up the truck nicely. It runs comparable to my 06 5.3 ECSB sierra with the 5.3 dyno tune with 3.73's and stock size tires.

How's you're MPG with the bigger tires I was thinking it might be better up on the HWY because the drop in the RPM's.

I know in town the MPG going to drop but most my driving is up on the HWY speeds around 65 and 70 MPH.

I have not bothered to rest the AVG economy on my DIC. With the old tires I was averaging about 18 mpg at 75 on the highway with the A/C on.

I think I go with 31 or 32 inch tires so it don't kill the MPG and power. :roflbow:

Next is what type of tire I been think getting Continental CrossContact™ LX20 mainly they say they get better MPG due to them being LRR type tire plus the have 70K+ mileage rating.

But on the flip side I like to have a more off road look but it will never see any heavy off road as long I own it will unless I have to LOL.

To tow someone else out that what friends do for each other when the other gets stuck and they call you to rescue them been on both side of this before LOL I still have my 40 foot tow chain just for this.:gathering:

The cool looking tire or something that will last longer and better MPG and there cheaper.
