Have not had a chance to do any real research yet, but I have the opportunity to buy a complete 4.8L engine (with ECU), torque converter, transfer case and transmission as a package for a good deal (or what I think is a good deal, $1000) for my planned 6.0 project. My quick google search returned that to bore a 4.8L to a 6.0L it will need to be sleeved. Can anyone with some engine building experience more than mine shed any light onto this? Is it worth doing or would I just be wasting my time?

You'd be ahead of the game to just get a 6.0 to begin with and mod that.

look on copart.com suctions and get a wrecked totaled Denali and then you would have everything.. buddy just payed $360 for a rear ended Denali and swapped 6.0 into his silverado. upgrade from his 4.3. and it is like a rocket ship, with tune, headers, converter,CAI..

start correct with a 6.0 and dont look back

thats kinda what I was thinking in the back of my mind also. to just start with the 6.0. Well if anyone needs a 4.3 complete engine with ECU, let me know and I can get you in touch with the guy whos selling it. Came out of a running truck about a week ago.

I believe if you try to bore it from 4.8L to 6.0L you will be to close to the water jackets and cause some major over heating problems.

Why not do a 4.8/5.3 block bored from the stock 3.78 to 3.902 to accept an LS1 piston and with a 4.00" stroker crank and 6.2 Forged Steel Rods to make a 383? With a set of Trickflow Genx-205 Heads and Trick Flow Track Max Cam Package topped off by a 102mm LSXRT Intake with 30lbs injectors should get you around 510HP Naturally aspirated :)

Then you can get your burnout on!
