Should the rear suspension be sitting on the bump stops? I replaced the stops with the shorter ones that came with the kit.

Do I have to do the free travel mod? Just didn't realize it, if so.

Also, other than swaybar efficacy, can someone explain the benefit to shorter rear swaybar links?

Thanks,
rp

Should the rear suspension be sitting on the bump stops? ... "NO." :)

I would'nt think any kit would have that happening?? Usually the "Free Travel Mod" gives the rear axle "more room" to travel but if your setup "currently has "Zero" travel??? Something is not right??? Lot's of experts here .. you should outline what you've done, they can help. :)

In a nutshell ...you want to keep the sway bar "Parallel" to the ground. When you raise or lower the suspension "vehicle dependent" ... apparently?? It can tip the Sway Bar upward or downward, the "Swaybar" end links are used to keep the Sway bar "Parallel to the ground" at the "new" ride height.

Lots of words ... but easy to see .. just look for a car/truck with stock suspension and you'll see the Sway Bar is "parallel" to the ground. :)[/QUOTE]

1) More then 3 inches need to cut bracket off frame. Online resellers wont tell you this but selling and installling these kits for years its maditory.
2) On my rear 3-4 kits i always recommened the bumpstops since you will need it for free travel mod and endlinks will make the truck handle better due to the swaybar angle being fixed.

It's not sitting right on the bumpstops, but it might as well be... no wonder it handles so good! lol

Thanks for the response! I'm actually not a newbie so much at building cars from scratch be it coil or leaf cars. The TA in my avatar would take a slalom at over 60mph, and I built the suspension myself. I've just never been a truck guy until lately, and when I got the wifey's hand-me-down Tahoe, it was time to start modding! As Norcal said, they don't tell you that you need these extra parts or take a cutting-wheel to your truck, but that's why I have a shop ;)

I got the parts from Norcal to do the endlink swap and bumpstops for the free travel. I can't wait to see what it feels like afterward.

Thanks guys!

As you know ... that's a pretty rare beast these days ... congrads on keeping her alive and making her better than she was! :)
