4 Wheel drive wont engage

I have a 1996 Yukon that I cant get the 4 wheel drive to engage. The transfer case will shift in and out with no problem. I changed the Actuator and the switch board ( on dash switches). When you push 4 hi ( while moving about 5 mph) or 4 low ( trans in neutral ) the transfer case engages but the axle doesn't. Anyone have any Ideas?

check fuse #24 for the actuator power. it goes from that fuse to ball type switch on top of tcase that gets activated when shifting to pass the power on to the actuator.

Ok, Checked the fuses for the 4X4 and tans. Both were good.

I noticed the wire coming from the trans. area to the actuator has a heat coating on it. (right side of the frame) It was brushing against the exhaust pipe. Could it be damaged from the heat even though its protected. I tied it up to the frame to get it away from the pipe.

Are you sure the Encoder motor is Engaging properly?

Put foot to floor and shift r then d andbak eventually you will get out the hole. Never mind that's how to blow a trans... Let me know how it pansout

The transfer case shifts in hi and lo. The front doesn't engage.

I pulled the actuator and operated the switch and it doesn't engage

you mean the actuator does not move either?
