So I stopped at the dealer and got the following quotes:
Trans Flush - $199
Rear diff service - $159
Front diff service - $99
Rear diff service - $189
So we're looking at $650+ tax, but the dealer said if done before 50k miles, I will get a "credit" towards future repairs, if I do these every 30k miles, something in the neighborhood of $4,000 for the trans and $3000 towards the differential "internally lubricated parts" , ie, no seals, etc
Who thinks this is a good idea, and who thinks this a wallet flushing?
My friend is a service tech at Ford, and says fluids are good for 100k miles these days.
But I'd like to get any potential trans/differential issues out of the way, before my 5/60 warranty on the powertrain is gone - so if the fluid changes/flushes knocks anything loose, it will still be under warranty.
My concern is resale/and or reliability down the road @ 100k plus miles.
So this would be cheap-ish insurance, as I don't really do any towing, and rarely any 4wd, mostly city driving with the occasional road trip to the Keys, Jacksonville, or wherever, maybe Georgia this fall to see some friends.
So with Light Duty use, would you change out all these? Some or none?
