Why a 4bt when the 6bt will fit just fine?
if it was a jeep or some other type of rig the 4bt would be fine. but not for the Tahoe/Yukon. I put over 600k on my 97 Dodge with the 6bt and I had the plate about .050 forward and some other tweeks and it was perfect for what I used it for. I have thought about putting a 3rd gen Common rail in my Denali for some time now.

x2 with the 6bt , I know its been done on our older models , but haven't yet seen the NBS with one , this is a long shot but have you tried contacting Duraburb to see if they will even give you any hints?

They sell the bell housing motor mounts and all the pieces to put it together i was gonna do the 1st gen its less electronics and i figured doing the 4bt cause its a few 100lbs less then the 6bt so i figured itd be easier on my front suspension components and i already have the bigger injectors injector pump for the 4bt and a turbo from a 6bt wich should bump the hp from 105 to around 3xx the turbo is a bit bigger

try and find a 96-97 12valve that had a 5spd behind it. They were rated at 215hp and 440ft lb. I moved the fuel plate forward about .50 and adjusted the afc. all with the stock turbo. I put 600k on my Dodge running across the US and it never let me down. And it's much better than the 1st gen with the VE pump. the early 2n gen had the P pump. much better and more durable and you can get much more power out of it. Don't be afraid of the 3rd gen with the common rail and the computer. it still is a simple hook up. After driving the Dodge with the Cummins in it. my 97 with over 600k and my 04.5 with 260k You will not be happy with the 4bt. like I said earlier, if it's a jeep or other small vehicle, great. But not a 5-6k lb Tahoe.

Ditto...I think you'd have a lot less trouble dropping in a Duramax/Allison of the same/similar year model than putting a Cummins diesel in. Probably a lot less "re-engineering" work. The diesel place forum has a "Frankenstein" sub-forum that discusses this ad naseum. Look for a user name TDIGuy (Eric Swanson @ Duraburb).

Duramax is only a plug and play swap if your 03+ didn't notice what year you have.
