I just recently swapped in the cluster with the trans temp gauge. The transmission seems to take a long time to get to operating temperature - usually 10-20 miles in the city. Ambient temps have been 40-50*, and I've only been seeing 110-120* on the trans gauge.

How long does it take your 4L60E to reach operating temperature?
Should I worry that the temp is only reaching 110-120*?

When i got my cluster rebuilt with the trans temp gauge installed it was wintertime and i thought the gauge was broken because it never moved if it was about 35-40 or lower. It wasn`t until it warmed up that it finally moved but even when it`s 90 degrees out mine has never gone over 150 even when towing so i`d say it`s normal.

Thanks for the reply. That seems consistent with what I've been seeing. It was ~25* tonight, drove for 20 miles or so, and it eventually hit 100* on the gauge.

Seems normal. The gauge is there for towing and monitoring those temps when doing so as your trans works harder especially up grade.
