I just tried to install a PACT, transmissioncenter.net tranny. The 4l60e was identified as a LS1 b/c of the one piece bell housing. Turns out the flywheel and the torque converter don't match up. The snout on the converter is too wide and the converter itself is slightly ballooned out so the flywheel doesn't even touch the mounting pads.... nothing mates up.

PACT is useless! I am assuming that there must be a different flywheel for this? Or maybe I have to get a different torque converter? Not sure what do do at this point. Any ideas besides saying that PACT Transmissions suck?

I am not sure about the L31's but with LT1's V's LS1 transmissions you have to change the TC, Trans input shaft to match up with the Gen 1 & 2 small block cranks and flywheels/flex. Since the crank in an LT1 is basically the same as the vortec and TBI cranks you would have to do this as well. This means the pump has to come off the trans and it basically has to be torn down and changed over to the gen 1 & 2 style 1 piece rear main seal crank input shaft. or pump shaft.

Hmmm I have been trying to find a solution and havn't come accross that. Only "kits" that have flexplates and a spacer to put between the block and tranny. Could you give a website link that you know of?

Thanks

Same thing happened to me, ended up just having to bring my tranny to the place and having them duplicate it lol.

There should be some solution using a flexplate, torque converter (or both) from a newer 4.3 V6. Unless they changed them over the years everything should be the same as a 5.0/5.7 Vortec
