4wd switch lights up intermittent

watsup fellow yukon tahoe owners i have a 1997 gmc yukon 2dr with a push button switch on dash. the switch only lights up when it wants? i checked all the fuses were good? i was told the motor on the t.c but i dont want to do that yet havent dont that much diag im guess the switch is bad the light on the switch is usually never light up under 2wd but when it lights up it works im pretty sure lol i guess the switch theres a way i could test the switch if so how thanks alot

Here's a link to thread about it. If the switch is still working it is probably a bad solder joint on the board. It's a pretty easy fix if you are handy with a soldering iron. My illumination bulbs were burned out but my indicator light (the orange one) would come on from time to time, like when it was cold and when i would press the switch body. I ended up taking the switch apart to replace the incandescent illumination bulbs and ended up soldering LED's in place which wasn't that hard, especially if you know a thing or two about electronics. The gear indicator light (the orange one) is an LED from the factory. To get to the illuminations I was replacing, it was necessary to desolder the board to get it to release so I could get to the bulbs. When I reassembled and resoldered, everything worked as it was supposed to.
