It has been done before. But there is a lot of worked involved. GMFS has a couple good threads on someone putting a 5.3L in a 1989 Silverado.

First of all hope your girl is OK and sorry bout your Denali.

Swapping in a 6.0 isnt going to be too hard.

I would have your 6.0 engine harness " streamlined" by Speartech to make it a 4 wire hook up .

Then you'll need a high PSI replacement fuel pump, and connectors to hook it up to the fuel rail.

Motor mounts too im betting.

Also some PCM tuning to eliminate the antitheft feature on the 6.0 PCM.

You can do it, am it will be awesome!! GEN III engines Rule!!!!

My 350 just froze up on me a couple days ago, so what I have is a paper weight sitting in my driveway!!!

This write up is nice! And is making me contemplate a swap!

VS a rebuild of my 350 or a crate 350 ...

more HP/TQ and better gas mileage !!!

If you got the time and money why not? Unless you need your truck back and running as soon as possible then the crate engine would prolly be your best bet. I plan on doing this after college and after the purchase of the Duramax I hope to own. This way I have all the time in the world to do the swap.
