I have a couple of questions and I hope someone can help. 95 2 Door Yuk failed emissions on hydro carbons while driving not curb test. I am pretty sure it is the cat that needes to be replaced as it was rattling for years. I need to replace the exhaust as the muffler is shot and I am going to upgrade to a stainless system so here are my questions. I am looking at new cats and I see OBD2 cats but not OBD 1is there a differance?

The next question I have is I am going to do a new motor and headers in the very near future, given that is it worth the duals with duel cats now or would a 3 inch single cat and 3 inch single be good enough?

I hope you guys can understand what I mean about the exhaust replacement. I am not wasting another dime on a standard system as they rust off too fast. I can get a mandrel bent single SS system for about $150.00 more than a standard steel system plus a cat so I think I am going that way and then add the headers and possibly another side later.

becuase you have a two door I think makes it harder to get aftermarket exhuast mods. obd1 should have one converter. Obd2 would have a seperate converter for each cylinder head with a total of 4 O2 sensors. It depends on emmisions level built into truck laws where you live on which you have to use but most likely you would stay single if you have OBD1(Throttle body injection with two injectors mounted on the body itself) and yes 3-inches would do nicely.

Yes I only have one converter at the present time. I guess I over did it in the last post so here I go. While researching cats I see them advertised as OBD2 cats but I do not see anything advertised as OBD1 Cats. Is there a difference?

So since I am OBD1 with a single cat I should stay with only one cat with a single 3 inch exhaust?

Single 3" with single cat would be plenty.
What are your plans for the new motor?

New motor will be nothing crazy. Fresh to start with on the bottom end. Was thinking maybe a set of Edelbrock Preformer heads, cam for sure. I have a line on an aluminum TBI intake and a large bore Holley throttle body. With those few things I am thinking that I would do a good MSD dizzy to light it all up. With the new motor I will do the headers during the swap.

I think it has something to do with compliance with new emmision laws and consolidating costs. You are fine with the 3-inch.
