dashes are a dime a dozen and the parts yards here. would probably be the easiest thing to do. if you really wanted to fix the old one, you could try to fiberglass it and redrill the holes. but you run the risk of it rebreaking.

how did it break in the first place?

I am not sure how his broke and I am not sure how mine broke but it is. I looked up one day and noticed that all three screws are there but the recessed area around them is broken. I am not looking forward to pulling the dash out and replacing it but I will and when I am in there I am taking the HVAC box apart and cleaning the evap and heater core.

Yep mines broken too, have no idea how. But since my dash has a crack in it as well, I'll be going the LMC route for a replacement. They also offer a reinforcement kit to try and keep those plastic tabs from breaking again.

I think the sun's UV rays kill it over time, and make it more brittle. Being that these trucks are 12 years old (at the newest), they've seen a lot of UV rays. At least that's Armor All's excuse for why you have to protect your vinyl with their stuff.

And mine has cracks near those areas too

For what it's worth---

If you want to try to fix it take a piece of the plastic to a plastic supplier. (the kind of place that sells plexiglass and such)
There are several types of cement for the various types of plastic out there. They will be able to test your plastic and get you the right cement for repairing it.
The difference between the plastic cement and epoxy or glue is the proper cement will actually melt the broken pieces together making it one piece rather than 2 pieces glued together.

Very common for these to break and end up sitting on the steering column. If you do get a good used dash I would recomend doing what OLDSALT said to the good one as well because it is just a matter of time before it happens again. Another method would be to use sheet metal under the dash and attach it and the use the plastic glue that will melt and cure ******* any cracks and then sand the glued areas and then cap it or cover it in vinyl. Vinyl will help keep the sun off of it and will look better than a dash mat.
