I have a 1995 Tahoe with the 350 TBI engine and it takes 5-7 seconds of cranking when cold for it to start. Once it's warmed up that time is cut in half. When I turn the key on (engine off) I can hear the fuel pump run until I hear a click under the hood. I have already replaced the fuel filter and it had a leaking TBI gasket which I already replaced.

I just had it smogged last week and it barely passed the HC part of the test. Would a faulty ECT cause this?

The only leak I found was around the base so I removed it and installed a new gasket. I installed a new ECT so I will see tomorrow morning how it starts

I don't know if I need to start a new topic in another category but my wife has a 2002 GMC Yukon 5.3 with 221k miles. It runs good but get's poor mileage and the idle is right around 500rpm. I replaced the wires and plugs awhile back with AC Delco parts and cleaned the map sensor but with no change. Would a faulty ECT also cause these symptoms?

Thanks

what kind of mileage and its supposed to idle around there my 02 tahoe idles between 700 and 500 rpm
and if yer mileage is below 12 to 13mpg then there mite be an issue but on the otherhand you do have 221k on the motor if you want better mileage like it used to get its time for a rebuild or a new motor

dont expect a motor with 221k to get the gas mileage on dealer sticker

Update: The 1995 Tahoe now starts in 3 seconds cold and almost instantly when warmed up. I replaced the ECT on my wife's 2002 Yukon and it no longer stinks of unburned fuel out the tailpipe, the idling has gone up to 600-625rpm and runs smoother. Only time will tell if the MPG goes up but just by going by how it runs it should

My 2dr would run so pig rich when that sensor was out. Like so so bad but once it was swapped it was good to go
